Behind the Scenes / Excluded Clip(s)
Kat and Luke will take you behind the scenes of the process for the film. This ranges from how we have to prep in some situations to post-production complications and more.
Our guests always have more things to share than we include. Our goal is to condense down to the most potent narrative arc we see in it. However, you could edit each one so many ways. Here we’ll share at least one clip that we find moving that didn’t get included.
Mystery Products
We’ll release a product tied to our latest film each month. One example was a mug with a new word offered by the guest. Another example was a custom booklet with beautiful visuals and quotes from the interview on each.
Name in Credits
Have your individual name or business name included in the end credits.

From Luke W Russell
For fifteen years, I have studied human behavior. As an autistic individual in a world that operates in ways I could not make sense of, I set out to discover and learn what makes people tick. How do you foster rich human connection? How do you build trust? What does it take to build a network of people who will have your back?
Several years ago, I shifted my focus in business to explore how businesses can meet objectives through human connection. I wanted to prove that there’s money in human connection.
I believe there is nothing more precious than human connection. It’s biologically important and psychologically fulfilling.
If I could discover ways businesses can harness human connection in the community for profit, then it would help create more connection in the world.
I began with the policies at my agency. We drafted policies with our attorneys that were human-first. I believed that we could do so much more if we had an environment that sought to help the team thrive. From there, I set out to experiment with ways businesses can show up to their target communities. I traveled the country and led a few businesses in community outreach.
I cultivated networks in other cities with leaders and built a bridge from the law firm to those communities. We experimented with advertising strategies, film, events, podcasts, small gatherings, and more.
Through all of this, I found many powerful ways to pursue various business objectives. Businesses can support everything from driving sales, referrals, increasing conversion rates, increasing retention, and talent acquisition.
I’ve been able to help businesses connect with communities they didn’t know how to build that bridge. I’ve had some of the most wonderful interactions through the process, and helped businesses meet needs that otherwise were unfulfilled.
This newsletter is going to be a space where I share the lessons from all of this. Everything from the types of leaders to pursue in communities to how to ask questions to foster trust to ways you can attract top-tier talent to storytelling that invites others into your mission.
The goal is to take my years of experimentation and exploration and distill lessons for you to take and implement into your professional and personal spaces.
Here is a sample of what one month’s content might look like:

- Beyond Social Media Norms: Creating Content that Gives More than it Takes
- Question Anatomy: Asking Something Deeply Personal or Vulnerable
- Outreach: How to Identify Leaders Open to Collaboration
- Connection Skills: How to Demonstrate You Care
- Our Favorite Part from Last Month’s Film
- What’s In the Works
- On A Personal Note
The Tussle: I’ll be offering you insights into how I drew out the stories of our guests. These strategies will be framed in ways that reveal the methods behind it so you can discover your own ways of executing them.
Beyond Social Media Norms: Most businesses use social media in rather generic ways, and yes many achieve great results. I’ll be taking you behind the scenes to see how you can show up on social and make an impact that far exceeds that of those with far more hearts or followers.
Question Anatomy: I have a database of hundreds of questions I’ve designed over recent years. In it, I have the anatomy of questions laid out, when to use them, and how. Each month, I’m going to be taking you into the how and why I design questions the way I do. It’s everything from the timing of the question, the specific language used, the tone and pacing of delivery, and more.
Outreach: I’ve spent a lot of time building relationships with leaders in communities for other businesses. I’m going to equip you with my philosophies and approaches that have allowed me to build rich collaborative relationships.
Connection Skills: I’ve spent years honing in skillsets around forging human connection. These skills can be applied to your personal life, management of your team, and more. I’ve designed workshops and written extensively on this topic. I’ll be sharing with you some of the most valuable skills I’ve acquired on building powerful relationships.
Our Favorite Part from Last Month’s Film: We love analyzing the content we put out. There’s so much methodology in each piece, everything from how we conduct the interview to the emotional storytelling. Sometimes, it’s about the timing of a pause, and other times, it’s about building to an epic moment.
What’s In the Works: We have a lot of really cool things planned, and we’re always planning our next interviews. We also seek to expand our skills and experiment with our film tech, visual storytelling, and emotional storytelling.
On A Personal Note: While the newsletter is primarily focused on our films and methods around human connection, we will include a piece each month on the lessons we’re learning in life.
